Marching Kangs

Marching Band is a performance unit within the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble classes. Students enrolled in Symphonic Band (Gr. 9) and Wind Ensemble participate in Marching Band from August Band Camp through October/early November.  There are some practices that occur outside the school day, and performances take place at home football games during the season. This is a graded unit in the Band classes.

The marching arts are a vital part of music education for band students. Studies show that marching band gives students hands-on learning and performance experiences that support success both in and out of school. Students in marching programs build on the same skills they learn in concert ensembles and lessons—like tone quality, balance and blend, rhythm, timing, and articulation—while applying them in a dynamic, team-based setting. They also explore a wide range of music, from orchestral and symphonic works to jazz, classic rock, and more. This unique performance experience helps students grow as musicians while broadening their musical horizons.​
